Google CEO Sundar Pichai thanked President Donald Trump Thursday for the “constructive dialogue” of the administration with regard to the antitrust case that was resolved this week, according to various reports.
“You had a very good day yesterday,” Trump told Pichai during a meeting of the White House, including other technical leaders such as Mark Zuckerberg and Tim Cook, according to the Wall Street Journal. “Do you want to talk about the big day you had yesterday?”
Trump referred to the shares of Google that went up after a judge ruled that the company can keep Chrome and Android in a monopolistic lawsuit, but must share data with rivals.
The pronunciation retains the role of Google as the standard search engine on iPhones, which means that users will not notice much change, but it also keeps rivals such as Duckduckgo or Bing at a disadvantage.

“I’m glad it’s over,” said Pichai, according to the New York Post. “It was a long process. Appreciated that your administration had a constructive dialogue, and we could get it a resolution.”
In October 2020, the US Department of Justice under Trump set up an antitrust -right case against Google during his online search monopoly and the Biden administration continued the lawsuit after his election.
Google was found last year to have an illegal monopoly.

Pichai added that he looked forward to working with the Trump administration on artificial initiatives in intelligence and thank Trump for his ‘leadership’.
Google has said that it is planning to appeal against the decision, but the long process can take years before it is mandatory to act on the ruling.
“Judge Mehta is aware that the Supreme Court is the likely final destination for the case, and he has chosen remedies that have a good chance of acceptance by the court,” says William Kovacic, director of the Law Center at George Washington University.

This case is the largest American technical antitrust fight since Microsoft in the nineties and will probably go to the Supreme Court. Google still stands for individual challenges for its App Store and advertising business.
