France called for the American ambassador Charles Kushner in Paris, after the diplomat accused the country that he did not do enough to combat anti -Semitism in a letter to French President Emmanuel Macron.
The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Sunday that Kushner’s allegations are “unacceptable” and announced that it had called for the American diplomat to appear on Monday at the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.
Kushner, who is Jewish, wrote in the letter that anti -Semitic incidents in France were fed by French government statements about recognizing a Palestinian state.
“Public explanations that Israel and gestures to recognize a Palestinian state that encourages extremists strives for the recognition of extremists, fuel and Jewish life in France. In today’s world, anti -zionism is anti -Semitism – clear,” wrote Kushner.

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in his statement that “France rejects these allegations” from Kushner, adding that French authorities have “fully mobilized” to combat an increase in anti -Semitic actions since Hamas launched a fatal attack on Israel on 7 October 2023.
The ministry said that Kushner’s allegations violate international law and the obligation to not disturb themselves with the internal affairs of another country, adding that they “also fall short of the quality of the transatlantic partnership between France and the United States and the confidence should get the prevention between allies.”
