Ford CEO Jim Farley joined ‘Varney & Co.’ To explain why Ford’s electric pick -up and bus close until 2028 with a slimmer EV approach, lower production costs and a sharper focus on affordable models and American production.

The Automaker announced that it is moving from its current location – called the “Glass House” – in Dearborn, Michigan, after a new site, a few miles that will officially open in November. Ford said that in the first half of 2026 it will complete the move from the Glass House – built in 1956 – and that the building will be demolished in the course of approximately 18 months.

“This is more than just a new building; it is a catalyst for innovation and a physical symbol of our Ford+ transformation,” said Bill Ford and Jim Farley in a letter to employees. “To win in this new era, we have to work together more closely than ever before.”

The new building is called the new Ford World Headquarters and is on 2.1 million square foot twice as large as the Glass House. The new site is intended to bring together the engineering, design and technological teams of the company in one location.
The building will be part of a larger campus that will take the name of the current head office, the Henry Ford II World Center. Henry Ford II was the grandson of founder Henry Ford and served as CEO from 1945 to 1979. When completed, Ford said that 14,000 employees will be from the building within a 15 -minute walk.

The new location of Ford will contain six design studios, a showroom to carry out product reviews, a 160,000 square foot food room, wellness and mothers rooms, as well as more than 300 technically suitable meeting rooms.

The New World Headquarters Building is located on the site of the former Ford Product Development Center, which was opened in 1953. The then President Dwight Eisenhower was there to celebrate the dedication live due to the very first use of closed circuit TV.
Some of the most iconic cars in the country were born on the site and on the Dearborn campus, including the Mustang, Thunderbird, Continental, F-series Trucks, Ranger and Ford GT.
