Flavor Flav made a big pitch to the U.S. women’s hockey team on Monday after the Olympic gold medalists turned down an invitation from President Donald Trump, who is facing criticism for joking that he “needs” to include them in plans for the men’s team to visit the nation’s capital.
The team accepted his offer to party with him in Las Vegas, the rapper later responded to a social media post.
Previously, the Public Enemy rapper and Team USA hype man took to social media to address the winning women, to write“If the US women’s hockey team wants and invites a real party, I will host them in Las Vegas.”
He continued, “Do some fun dinners and shows and fun times. I’m sure I can get a hotel and an airline to help me out here and really celebrate these women. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾.”
Flav’s pitch came after Trump had made controversial comments during a congratulatory phone call with the gold medal-winning U.S. men’s hockey team, where he offered to fly the athletes to his State of the Union address on Tuesday for a trip that included a visit to the White House the next day.
“And we’re going to have to — I got to tell you — we’re going to have to bring the women’s team,” said Trump, whose comment made the American men laugh. “[If I don’t] If I do that, I think I’ll probably get impeached, okay?”
A spokesperson for USA Hockey, which oversees both teams, shared later that the White House invited the American women to attend the SOTU speech, but the players ultimately declined the offer, citing scheduling conflicts.
GOP leadership has shared that this is so developing the logistics to get members of the men’s team to DC in time for the address.
It is unclear whether members of both hockey teams will attend Trump’s proposed visit to the White House on Wednesday.
The chairman previously honored the U.S. women when they took gold at the 2018 PyeongChang Games, although that White House ceremony featured Olympic and Paralympic athletes from a variety of sports.

Flav – a fixture at the 2024 Paris Games when he signed on as a sponsor and hype man for the US women’s water polo team – represented the red, white and blue in Italy this month as he cheered Team USA bobsled and skeleton.
On Monday, Flav wrote that he plans to use the bobsled and the skeleton in his big party in Vegas. Him later shared a screenshot from a party pitch apparently sent on his behalf to Doug Ferry, hockey operations and events manager for the U.S. women’s team.
Flav noted on his Instagram Stories that he is looking forward to hosting the celebration at the end of Professional Women’s Hockey League action. The 2025-2026 PWHL season resumes Thursday, with the playoffs typically concluding in late May.
