The families of four victims who died in an Air India -Crash earlier this year blame defective fuel switches of the incident in which 260 people were killed.
In the first lawsuit that was tightened in the US about the crash, the Families Airplane Maker Boeing and Honeywell, who made the switches, accuses to be responsible.

The provisional report from AAIB stated that Air India had not carried out the proposed inspections, and that maintenance records demonstrated that the gas control module, which includes the fuel switches, was replaced in 2019 and 2023 on the aircraft involved in the crash.

The report noted that “all applicable airworthiness guidelines and warning service bulletins were complied with both the aircraft and the engines.”
The lawsuit claims that the switches are in a place in the cockpit where they were previously unintentionally pushed, which “effectively guaranteed that normal cockpit activity can lead to unintended fuel closing.”

However, Aviation Safety Experts said Reuters that they could not be accidentally reversed on the basis of their location and design.
The AAIB report mentioned a cockpit stamp in which one pilot asked the other why he cut off the fuel and “the other pilot replied that he didn’t.”
