The international high-speed passenger rail line connecting Britain, France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands was disrupted for several hours on Tuesday after a ‘major disruption’. Service has since resumed at a gradual pace.
Eurotunnel said “the LeShuttle service resumed very gradually” just before 3pm CET. The company noted that the service was “operating alternately in both directions, with significant delays.” Shuttles will be added on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings.
“As issues with the above-ground power supply in the Channel Tunnel still persist, only one line is available for trains. This means that delays and longer than normal journey times will continue this evening,” Eurostar said in a statement.

Customers whose trains have been canceled are advised not to come to the station as these trains will not be operated again.
Passengers stranded by the disruption are eligible for reimbursement of various costs from Eurostar, including hotel accommodation up to approximately $199 per room, per night, taxi fares up to approximately $70 per journey and food and beverage costs up to approximately $47 per person, per day.
“We advise our customers to rebook their trip to another day, where free exchanges are possible,” the statement said. “We apologize for the disruption and will continue to keep our customers updated with the latest information.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Eurostar warned travelers to postpone their trips due to a power supply problem. The company said passengers may experience serious delays and last-minute cancellations as a result. Customers were instructed not to go to the station unless they already had a ticket, according to the BBC.
Britain’s National Rail issued a similar statement calling on passengers to postpone their journeys due to delays and cancellations between London St. Pancras International and Paris Nord, the BBC reported.
LeShuttle, which is separate from Eurostar’s passenger rail service, runs between Folkestone, UK, and Calais, France, taking passengers and their vehicles through the Channel Tunnel in just 35 minutes.
