When radical environmental groups denounce the use of fossil fuels by the United States, they often romantize countries that try to weat themselves from coal, oil and natural gas as models that we can follow.
But the reality is that these means remain vital for the national and economic safety of America, and the only ones who are more enthusiastic than green groups to put an end to the energy development of our country are geopolitical rivals such as Russia and China.
For a world power such as the United States, policy that limits the production and use of our natural resources given by God would give a strategic and economic benefit to authoritarian regimes. Unfortunately, environmental oalots do not seem to understand this inherent problem with their agenda. Or even worse, they just don’t care.

Take, for example, Greenpeace, who was recently ordered to pay $ 667 million to the developer of the Dakota Access Pipeline after his campaign of fraud and destruction.
President Trump strives for energy -dominance – Congress should not stand in the way
What Greenpeace and other extremist groups do not understand is that their efforts to stop oil and natural gas development would weaken the United States, encourage Rogue Nations, harm our economy and have very little or no influence on the environment.
Making the United States more dependent on renewable energy would make the American electricity grid less reliable and threaten the economy of the nation. Spain is a relevant example.
In April the country scored that it was 100% renewable energy for the first time. Later that month, a scheduled failure created a national blackout that risked lives and cost the country nearly half a billion dollars.
The generation of electricity only through renewable energy sources makes electric griders more susceptible to collapse, and requires incredibly expensive upgrades to energy infrastructure that leads to higher electricity prices for consumers.
The predictable outcome of the green energy policy of California has arrived and it is a disaster
The International Energy Agency noted that for every 10% increase in the part of the electricity generated by renewable energy sources, costs rise more than 4 cents per kilowatt hour. As a result, countries such as Germany pay more than 2.5 times the average electricity percentage than the United States, and more than four times higher than China.
When countries such as China or Russia can generate electricity cheaper than their democratic rivals, they achieve an important economic advantage. The coal consumption of China reached record highs last year and the construction of new coal -fired power stations reached the highest construction level in the past 10 years. Russia is the world’s second largest exporter of natural gas and contains natural gas reserves that compete the US
When it comes to the environment, extracting or using fossil fuels with the same care as American companies. In fact, China is the largest carbon emitter in the world in the world. In 2020, the emissions of China exceeded that of all other developed countries. While China and Russia continue to develop their fossil fuel sources, it will be essential for the United States to do the same.

Groups such as Greenpeace can continue their efforts to derail American fossil fuel projects, but policy makers must acknowledge that this agenda would have little impact on the environment and a permanent and harmful impact on both US national security and economic competitiveness.
To protect the environment and to maintain our democratic values, the United States must pursue an energy policy that is rooted in realism, not as ideology. Although environmental activism has a place in shaping a sustainable future, ignoring radical efforts to dismantle the development of fossil fuels A critical truth – energy security is national security.
Leaving domestic oil and gas production would not reduce worldwide emissions, it would only give a strategic advantage to those who pollute more, get less worries and power when democracies self-sabotage.

Groups such as Greenpeace can strengthen themselves in the language of environmental justice, but their actions serve to undermine stability and environmental management that they claim to defend.
America must remain energy-independent, competitive and strong because the most polluting regimes in the world do not sacrifice their energy dominance, regardless of what we decide to do.
