Health struggle or operations are not how we will remember Hulk Hogan, the WWE Hall of Fame thrust and entertainer, who died on Thursday. Don’t get me wrong, Hogan had a lot of health struggle, from his admitted steroid use in the nineties to several knee and hip -replacing operations, to shoulder and multiple back operations and ultimately a neck fusion operation that was followed by many defeats by a Downhill slide, which was followed in a fatal cardiac stake.
But we do not honor him for overcoming pain or injuries, but as a cultural icon, for many national treasure, a friend and daring, unapologetically in favor of President Donald Trump and Maga. In a sense, Hogan is also part of the Make America Remory Again (Maha) movement in the sense that he returns to a time of more physicality and vitality. His pronounced frankness was an important part of the non -aditized identity of America and a with which we have difficulty returning.
Hogan came from a group of professional wrestlers who have a high incidence of steroid and drug use, suicide and heart conditions. According to a study by the University of Oost -Michigan, the death rates for wrestlers between the ages of 45 to 54 (men struggling from 1985 to 2011 during the era in which Hogan struggled) were almost three times more likely to die prematurely than the general American population. And those numbers raised how older the wrestler was. Many of these men didn’t even get their seventies.

Take into account the physical tension of a large, extensive frame that is repeatedly beaten, combined with frequent journeys and the emotional stress of both an athlete and an entertainer.
For many, Hogan was an inspiring figure. The wrestler and entertainer were known for his vitality, his pronouncedness and to go against the established standard. He got inspiration from “Superstar” Billy Graham while he was still a teenager in Tampa and he got his own personality of his life.
His appearance in “Rocky III” with Sylvester Stallone was legendary (Hogan played the wrestler “Thunderlips”) and he was temporarily fired from the WWF (now WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment) for accepting the role, although it catapulted him to Mainstream Fame.

Many pro-roasters have a problem with anabolic use of steroids and Hogan was no exception. In fact, he attracted a lot of public attention to the problem when he admitted under oath in 1994, during the trial against the then WWF chairman Vince McMahon for steroid distribution that he had used them for more than ten years (before stopping). Hogan later admitted that the goal was to ‘grow up’.
Hulk Hogan has been living for decades of pain, but it did not stop him a continuous role model for many, even in his later years.
He came to embody physical and spiritual vitality and that is what he will really be remembered. He was baptized in December 2023, 18 months before his death. He called it the best day of his life and surrendered to his faith.

“To all my little Hulkamaniacs, say prayers, take your vitamins and you will never go wrong,” was one of his most famous quotes.
If Hulk Hogan was here, he could say, life may live for a long time.
