Kettle marte From the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday cried on the field in response to a Heckling fan, and the upset Second Honkman was comforted by manager Torey Lovullo. (Watch the video below.)
The fan was ejected after Lovullo had warned the security, Mlb.com reported.
The unusual scene took place while the Diamondbacks applied a pitching change against the host Chicago White Sox. Marte could be seen crying and his tears wiped out while Lovullo put his arm around him.
According to Lovullo and teammates, the fan made disrespectful comments about Marte’s mother, Elpidia Valdez, who died in a car accident in 2017 in the Dominican Republic.
Lovullo, who heard the spectator’s comments, but said he didn’t want to repeat them, felt Marte respond.
“I looked straight at him when I heard it,” Lovullo The Republic of Arizona told. “I looked straight at him and he also looked at the person. He put his head down and I could see that it certainly had an immediate impact on him.”
“I reacted just as a father would do when I went out to change pitchers,” Lovullo continued. “I could see that he sobbed. It hurt.”
In one Postgame interview shared by mlb.comLovullo went on his efforts to comfort his player.
Diamondbacks Shortstop Geraldo Perdomo said that Marte’s mother “was the world for him” and the behavior of the fan “can’t happen”.
“I feel angry about it,” said Perdomo, adding that the viewer should be banned.
If there was a consolation in the heartbreaking scene, Marte previously housed the 4-1 victory of Arizona.
