US forces are currently active against the Iranian regime’s military infrastructure. Our planes are conspicuous targets. Our military personnel defend American lives. This is not theoretical. It’s not academic. It’s real.
And halfway through, some members of Congress want to pass a war powers resolution to force President Donald Trump to withdraw U.S. troops from the region while the threat is still active and looming.
That’s not a mistake. That’s surrender dressed up as a procedure.
Iran didn’t just wake up yesterday as a bad actor. For 47 years, the regime has chanted “Death to America,” taken our diplomats hostage, bombed our embassies, armed Hezbollah and Hamas, supported militias that have killed American troops and launched missiles at American bases. These are not just one-off attacks, these are immediate threats against the United States, carried out again and again.

Each president has tried something different: sanctions, negotiations, diplomatic resets, containment. Iran’s response has always been the same: slow down, cheat, continue financing terrorism and keep building.
Time and time again, weak leaders prefer to avoid decisive action and instead hand it over to multinational coalitions and the United Nations – an institution that has become so useless and corrupt that it effectively appointed Iran as vice chair of a UN body that promotes democracy and women’s rights.
Think about that. Iran – the country that fines, jails, flogs and kills women for not wearing their headscarves. A regime that restricts women’s freedom of movement, travel, work and access to basic services. And the UN puts representatives of that same regime in charge of women’s rights? The idea that the UN would take meaningful action against this threat is downright laughable.
FETTERMAN ‘DEFYED’ BY LACK OF SUPPORT FOR TRUMP’S IRAN ATTACKS AND DEATHS OF ‘EVIL’ LEADERS
But it is not just multinational coalitions that have failed to hold Iran accountable. Our own weak leaders in the US have pursued policies that have further emboldened the ayatollahs. President Barrack Obama’s Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has provided Iran with pallets of cash and lifted crippling sanctions. The JCPOA did nothing to dismantle Iran’s ballistic missile program or stop Iran’s regional aggression. It was a failed policy that funneled cash straight into the pockets of Iran’s allies and emboldened the regime while chanting “Death to America.”
Or we can talk about how Iran under President Joe Biden gained access to more than $16 billion in unfrozen and accessible assets, allowing the country to fund terrorism around the world and increase the imminent threat Iran has posed to America for decades.
But let’s talk about what an “imminent threat” is.
SEN. KENNEDY PRAISES TRUMP’S SOLUTION ON IRAN, SAYS ‘WORLD IS SAFER TODAY BECAUSE OF WHAT HE DID’
The killing of American soldiers at Tower 22 in Jordan is an imminent threat. The Beirut embassy bombings in 1983 and 1984, which killed hundreds of people, pose an imminent threat. And over the past two decades, repeated missile and drone attacks on U.S. bases in Iraq and Syria, putting American lives directly in the crosshairs, have all posed an imminent threat. And those attacks happened before Iran had nuclear weapons.
Republicans believe there was an imminent threat, and it certainly exists now when an enemy regime is actively enriching uranium, designing weapons and stockpiling the materials needed to kill Americans.

The Democrats are acting as if it is only imminent when the warhead is bolted onto the missile and rolled out to the launch pad aimed at the United States.
REP RO KHANNA: CONGRESS MUST RECOVER WARFARE FROM AN OUT OF CONTROL ASSETS OVER IRAN
The danger is real once they start building the weapon; Why should we wait until the gun is pointed directly at our heads before we take action?
By then it’s too late.
A nuclear-armed Iran would be catastrophic. It would embolden whatever terrorist proxy it funds and destabilize the Middle East overnight. And it would put American cities within reach of a regime that openly calls for our destruction.
PELOSI’S WAR FORCES FLIP-FLOP EXPOSED IN RESURRECTED OBAMA-ERA CLIP IS IN THE PRESENCE OF TRUMP CRITICISM OF IRAN
Therefore, action now is not reckless. It’s prevention and protection for thousands, if not millions, of Americans.
But now we have Democrats in Congress pursuing one of the most dangerous pieces of legislation imaginable.
Forcing U.S. forces to withdraw during a conflict would not “de-escalate” anything. It would tear away the protective shield that keeps Americans and our allies safe. Thousands of American citizens live and work in the region. Our diplomats, contractors and businesses depend on America’s air defenses and rapid response capabilities. Take that out overnight, and you create a vacuum that Iran will happily fill.

Each president has tried something different: sanctions, negotiations, diplomatic resets, containment. Iran’s response has always been the same: slow down, cheat, continue financing terrorism and keep building.
Our allies – Israel and Gulf partners – rely on our missile defense systems, our naval patrols and our joint operations. Withdraw now and you will send one message: If you pressure America long enough, we will go bankrupt and leave our allies behind while putting American lives in danger.
That’s not a deterrent. That’s an invitation.

Congress absolutely has a constitutional role. But that role does not include sabotaging troops while they are in danger. The debate over war powers should be about protecting American lives — not about scoring political points.
If my colleagues truly care about America’s military personnel, they must support the mission. President Trump has made his goal clear to Congress and the American people: to destroy any piece of machinery or artillery capable of reaching and hitting Americans, because Iran has proven that it will use everything in its arsenal to harm Americans every chance they get.

He has full authority under Article II and the War Powers Resolution to eliminate Iran’s immediate threat to the United States. He is just the first president with the backbone to finally do this.
I thank him for his decisive actions to keep our country safe, I thank all my brothers and sisters in arms for their service, and may God bless America.
