Coca-Cola has reportedly started rolling out soft drinks made with cane sugar in the US, months after President Donald Trump urged the drinks giant to bring back the ingredient to its US products.
A new 12-ounce glass bottle, single-serve soft drink from Coca-Cola, made with American cane sugar, will launch in select markets nationwide this fall, a company spokesperson said. The New York Post.
The move gives consumers “a classic and timeless way to enjoy their Coca-Cola Original Taste made with American cane sugar,” the spokesperson said.

John Murphy, Chief Financial Officer of Coca-Cola Company told Bloomberg News Tuesday that the launch will take place gradually.
“It will be a measured rollout,” Murphy said. “There is only a certain amount of cane sugar available in the United States.”
The announcement comes months after Trump said in July that he had spoken to Coca-Cola executives about bringing back “real cane sugar” to their U.S. products and that the company agreed.

Just days after Trump’s announcement in July, Coca-Cola said in its second-quarter earnings report that it planned to launch a version of its signature soft drink made with real sugar this fall.
“As part of its continued innovation agenda, the company plans to launch an offering featuring American cane sugar in the United States this fall to expand its trademarked Coca-Cola product range,” Coca-Cola said.
