On his first day, President Donald Trump signed the executive order “Untlined American Energy”, which made the full power of his administration behind the Amamier Energy again dominant. We have been following this guideline since then.
To lead this indictment, the President founded the National Energy Dominance Council (NEDC), who brings together top officials from the government to reduce bureaucracy and to stimulate American energy production. As members of the NEDC, we work around the clock to remove the roadblocks that our energy workers have stopped and have kept energy prices high for families, the efforts that we further explored this week during the Advancing America’s Beautiful Clean Coal event of the White House.
The Biden administration tried to choose winners and losers in our energy sector, so that unreliable renewable energy sources are subsidized instead of energy sources that actually stimulate our baseload power. This backward strategy made it more difficult to produce reliable energy and threw taxpayer money into sources that cannot keep the lights on when Americans need it the most.
The promise of Trump’s energy price is due. He has the power to resolve the crisis
The result was higher energy bills for families, a less reliable electricity grid and dangerous dependence on countries such as China for critical materials and equipment or opponents for fossil fuels.
President Trump changes that all. We bring beautiful, clean coal back because it works. Coal offers the stable, reliable power that makes our factories run, our houses warm and our economy strong. Unlike wind and solar energy, coal plants can walk 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, regardless of the weather. Coal also means well -paid jobs for American employees in the communities that have caused the industrial revolution.
At the Trump EPA we prove that we can protect our environment while also growing our economy and creating jobs. It is not a binary choice. Today we continue to build on these efforts with two important legal reforms to unleash American energy dominance by beautiful, clean coal.
Firstly, the EPA revisions of regulations for steam electric power generation proposes that certainty offer coal -fired power stations that are desperately needed. We give them more time to meet, while we keep your lights on by expanding seven large deadlines and eliminating the pressure to close reliable, affordable baseload flood generation.
We also announce new approaches to streamline regional mist implementation. The current implementation of the program has imposed considerable costs on power plants, which threatens affordable energy access for American families. We are looking for input from stakeholders on meaningful revisions that will include the latest science and recognize the steps that we have made in improving air quality, while taking care of clean air for every American.
In March we announced 31 historical deregulatory actions on the largest single day of deregulation in American history. We do more deregulation in a year than entire federal agencies have done about entire presidencies.
EPA also repairs the broken permit process by making it clear that companies only need air permits when they actually break the ground, not years before. This removes years of delays for new energy projects. We ended the old reactivation policy that served as a roadblock to bring reliable power plants online again. These common reforms help energy companies to invest in America again, creating jobs in communities they need the most.
At the Ministry of the Interior, the Trump government recovers American energy and mineral dominance by unlocking our enormous coal reserves and cutting bureaucracy that has been stopping production for years. We prove that we can feed our economy, protect our resources and strengthen national security, all at the same time.
First, we make 13.1 million hectares of federal land available for leasing coal, the largest expansion in decades. These countries were previously locked up by bureaucratic over -range. Now they are being returned to the American people to feed jobs, growth and energy dependence.
We have also reduced the federal royalty percentage of the coal from 12.5% to a ceiling of 7%, giving producers the certainty they need to invest and expand. This reform alone helps coal to keep the world market competitive, while the energy costs are reduced and the reliability for American families is recovering.
At the same time, we lead a critical mineral recovery initiative to extract rare earth elements and strategic materials such as zinc, Germanium and Tellurium from my waste and abandoned sites. These minerals are essential for national security and we ensure that they come from here from here, not in China.
Under the leadership of the Secretary Doug Burgum, the department goes quickly, cuts the bureaucracy, which reduces the approval times of the project from years to only 28 days and American energy workers are back in the driver’s seat. We are not just talking about energy, we deliver it.
At the Ministry of Energy we reverse the restrictive energy policy of the previous administration and we do everything we can to ensure the access of Americans to affordable, reliable and safe energy. Coal is central to those efforts.
In the direction of President Trump, the Ministry of Energy issued a grid reliability report earlier this year in which it was established that planned retirement of coal and natural gas factories, combined with the rising electricity demand, the electric schedule of the United States would make Black -Outs 100 times more susceptible to Black -Outs.
In order to meet the growing demand of domestic production and the rapid expansion of data centers for artificial intelligence, the American coal must remain powered forces. That is why the Ministry of Energy announced an investment of $ 625 million on 29 September to breathe new life into the beautiful, clean coal industry of our nation. A majority of those funds will go to ensure that coal -fired power stations operate today will remain open for decades and the highest environmental standards.

The Ministry of Energy has also issued emergency assignments to protect the US Power Grid and to prevent unnecessary power outages, including by stopping premature plant closures. In May 2025, for example, the Ministry of Energy dedicated the MidContinent Independent System Operator to have a 1,560 Megawatt coal -fired power plant work. The plant played a crucial role in the summer of light.
The future for coal is long and rosy. Coal built the largest industrial engine that the world has ever known, and under this administration it will help this again.
President Trump’s “Working Families Tax reduction” is the supercharige of everything that the NEDC does, which gives us even more tools to reduce the regulations and to let go of American energy production.

The work that we do will reinstall the energy infrastructure of America faster than ever and leveling the playing field for Baseload -current sources in contrast to supporting intermittent energy forms such as wind and solar energy with taxpayers subsidies.
Under the Trump government America is back, our energy sector is booming and we never return to the failed policy of the past. The era of the American energy -dominance is here and coal will play a crucial role in securing America’s position as the energy -outer force of the world. The future is of countries that can promote themselves, and thanks to President Trump’s leadership, that country is the United States of America.

Christopher Wright is the 17th Energy Minister of the United States.
