Democratic leadership in the congress seems to get the message that their supporters send. Democrats want to fight their party, and in a new letter to their Republican counterparts, Senator Chuck Schumer and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries made their position clear.
The leaders wrote:
Best Speaker Mike Johnson & Leader John Thune:
The deadline of September 30 will soon be coming. It is therefore absolutely necessary that next week we will immediately meet on our return to the congress to discuss the need to prevent a painful, unnecessary decline in government financing and to tackle the health care crisis that Republicans have activated in America.
The problem of government financing must be solved in a dual way. That is the only feasible path ahead. At the same time, it is crucial that we come together to stop the Trump government’s attack on health care in America. Unfortunately, it seems that the congress controlled by the Republicans is missing a plan to tackle the increasing health care crisis that your budget consent law has been established. Hospital closures and personnel reductions cause everyday Americans, especially in rural communities. This fall, millions of people will jeopardize the premiums, co-pays and deductible risks of health insurance.
