During the American Civil War, generals were known for the daily ‘butcher account’, a euphemism for the number of victims made from the fight of that day.
The last Labor Day -weekend in Chicago in Chicago, the butcher’s account was shot 58 people, dozens of injured and eight killed because of rifles, compared to 55 people shot and eight killed during the weekend of July 4.
So far this year, the Butcher’s Bill from Chicago is on average about one murder a day, according to the Chicago Police Department, which has already reported nearly 1,000 shootings, 278 murders and 1,094 sexual attacks, not to mention important problems with burglary, theft and carjackings.

At this pace, Chicago remains the murder capital of America, or as Trump recently said: “The most dangerous city in the world.” This is unacceptable and unbearable.

Moreover, Chicago is briefly thousands of police officers, making it much more difficult to do community police in rough neighborhoods or to respond to 911 calls in time.

I also agree with press secretary Karoline Leavitt of the White House, who recently said: “Governor [JB] Pritzker should spend less time demonizing the police, more time to recruit more police. ”
But according to Mayor Brandon Johnson, Pritzker and other Illinois Democrats, everything is Hunky-Dory. Nothing to see here.
In fact, they have launched a complete political resistance campaign against the likely federal support of Trump of the city, with the argument that Chicago is not in a state of emergency, that every federal action is unconstitutional and that real issues are poverty and a lack of education, food, health care and social services, not criminality. Focus on the songs.
Pritzker even said that Trump only wants federal troops in Chicago to “stop people from voting”. Absurd.
Residents of Chicago begging for more help as the crime ‘Havoc’ deforms on neighborhoods
Pritzker and Johnson confirmed this weekend that they are not going to ask for federal help, that they will not collaborate with federal agents and that they will fight a federal action in court.
President Donald Trump is enough enough. Call their bluff and send in the FBI! Chicagoans should no longer live that way. My innocent teen brother, Christian, was murdered in Chicago three years ago. Since then many others have been killed and I consider it an insult to all families in Chicagoans and Illinois when the governor and the mayor say that no federal help is needed.

Yes, there is a need. A great need because of the failures of the Democrats about crime. That’s exactly why I’m the Caldwell Institute for Public Safety. To fight back against the chosen officials who have chosen soft-on-crime policy in relation to the protection of the authority-abiding citizens.
All signs point to Trump that plans a federal deployment of the interagency in Chicago, possibly this week, and he should do that.

Border Czar Tom Homan recently said: “If these mayors choose not to tackle the crime figure, President Trump will start that the American people promises and that is why he is in the Oval Office, the American people put him in because he promised to make America safe again, and that is what he does.”
(Incidentally, Naval Station Great Lakes, about 35 miles north of Chicago, is expected to be used as a hub for incoming federal agents and as an extra detention facility for ice and customs and border protection.)
Trump campaigned on law and order, and if he sends troops to Chicago or other crime -ravaged cities, he fulfills his promise to make America safe because he has already been done in the capital of our nation. Even mayor of DC Democrat Muriel Bowser acknowledged that the federal takeover has contributed to reducing crime in her city.
In the ideal case, in collaboration with national governors and mayors, presidents try to work in times of emergency, but if a governor refuses to give up control over their national guard for any reason, the president has the right under title 10 to temporarily federalize the national guard of that state for his complete discretion. I realize that activist judges may have something to say about it.

If Trump sends the FBI to Chicago, he will probably try to replicate the successful mobilization between authorities that we now see in Washington, DC.

National Guard troops in Chicago would ideally support law enforcement and serve as a frightening show of violence. They are authorized to retain suspects temporarily, but they cannot make arrests because they do not have police powers under the Posse Commitatus Act of 1878.
I also agree with press secretary Karoline Leavitt of the White House, who recently said: “Governor Pritzker should spend less time demonizing the police, trying more time to recruit more police.”
Johnson and Pritzker seem to be confused about that clear distinction in roles and authority.
It is also wild hypocritical of Pritzker to demonize the National Guard when he uses them to protect the Democratic National Convention in 2024. Not to mention the fact that troops of the National Guard were deployed 18 times in Chicago from 1877-2021, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Imagine my fellow chicagoans a city where you and your children feel safe by walking through the streets day or night and not hear rifle fire every day. Chicago is one of our most iconic cities with enormous potential to become the safe and thriving city that we all want.
Unfortunately, Pritzker and Johnson have imposed their number one responsibility to keep their citizens safe. Their ‘Butcher’s Bill’ can no longer be tolerated or normalized. It is now high time for President Trump to act.
