The regular media do not understand a very basic point. Texas and California both draw their cards from the congress district again, but they do not do the same.
Gubernatorial candidate and former Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) when he was asked if California Redistricting was an example of two errors that did not make the right.

Porter said:
What California does is very different from what Texas does. Firstly, California hoped that if we said we would do this, that Texas would fall, that they would go back to what we have seen, which is only redistributions after a census.
They don’t have that. Secondly, the legislative power of Texas is the one who acts here. A deeply Gerrymandered legislative power in California that will make this decision. The people of California. So we use a democratic tool to reform our democracy in response to the extreme undemocratic authoritarian activity that we see from Washington.
And the last thing I will say is, this is temporary. Built in the language that Californians will consider, UH, is the fact that this will, California will return to, the truly leading, groundbreaking, very, very, very excellent independent redistribution process. Here in just a few years. So this is a reaction to what I hope it will be short -lived anti -democratic authoritarian activity from Washington.
This is where the regular business media are completely at work. California does not do what Texas does, and instead of pointing to the difference, because the difference is of crucial importance, the media criticizes Democrats for daring to fight back.
Business media have surrendered to the point that, unless a viewer looks at MSNBC, they do not hear the word authoritarian used in connection with Donald Trump.
California is taking an important step to try to stop an authoritarian trying to grow an interim election because he knows that his party is going to lose.
Instead of treating Californian Democrats as if they were villains, the press must cover the state that feels the need to take this action.
Talking about why California does this would lead to discussing the contemptuous undemocratic manners of Trump, and since the vast majority of the press is even too scared to raise the subject, Katie Porter has to explain on television that what her stands is a step to protect and strengthen democracy, not under the intestine and weakened.
