Indianapolis (AP) – Caitlin Clark will miss the rest of the season of the Indiana fever because of a judge lies injury.
“I had hoped to share a better update, but I will not return this season to play,” Clark said in a statement. “I spent hours in the gym every day with the unique goal to come back, disappointed is not a word to describe how I feel. I want to thank everyone who has my back because of all the uncertainty.
“This has been incredibly frustrating, but even in bad there is good. The way in which fans continued to appear for me, and for the fever brought me so much joy and important perspective. I am so proud of how this team has only become stronger through adversity this year. Now it is time to close the season and to claim our place in the playoffs.”
Clark was injured against the Connecticut Sun late in a match of 15 July and later ran a bone button. She on average 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds in 13 games in her second season in the WNBA.
“Caitlin worked so hard during this time and did everything possible to recover and return to the court, but in the end time is not on our side,” said Fever COO and GM Amber Cox.
