A cranky Milwaukee Brewers fan was caught on camera last Tuesday threatening to call ICE on a Los Angeles Dodgers supporter during a high-stakes playoff game on her home turf.
The woman, identified by local media as Shannon Kobylarczyk, got into a nasty altercation with Ricardo Fosado after he began harassing spectators during Game 2 of the Brewers and Dodgers National League Championship showdown at Milwaukee’s American Family Field.
Fosado filmed himself taunting him solemn Brewers fans after Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages hit a clutch double, sending home fan favorite Enrique “Kiké” Hernandez and giving Los Angeles a 4-1 lead. The Dodgers ultimately won the game 5-1.
As Fosado turned to ask why the crowd was so quiet, Kobylarczyk leaned over and snapped, “Real men drink beer, pussy.”
Fosado bellowed the same question again as he held up his drink, a tall can with a Happy Thursday refresher.
As the confrontation escalated, Kobylarczyk tapped a fan in front of her and said, “You know what, let’s call ICE.”
Fosado chuckled when he challenged her to do so, letting everyone know that he was a U.S. citizen and military veteran.
“ICE won’t hurt me. Good luck,” he said, laughing, as a then grim-looking Kobylarczyk jumped forward to hit his phone, prompting Fosado to call her a “damn idiot.”
Fosado told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel he was subsequently ejected from the match after Kobylarczyk alerted security.
In a statement about the incident to HuffPost, Brewers representatives said the team expects “all individuals who attend games to be respectful of each other, and we will not tolerate any offensive statements made by fans to each other regarding race, gender or national origin. Our priority is to ensure that all attendees have a safe and enjoyable experience at the ballpark.”
The organization also confirmed that Fosado was ejected from the stadium, but added that he subsequently interacted with Milwaukee police “for actions unrelated to the events depicted in this video, including disorderly conduct and public intoxication.”
Brewers representatives said both Fosado and Kobylarczyk have been banned from returning to the ballpark.
After the incident, the Journal Sentinel confirmed to Kobylarczyk’s employer, Milwaukee-based staffing company Manpower Group, that she was “no longer with the organization.”
The newspaper also reported that Kobylarczyk had resigned from her role on the Make-A-Wish Wisconsin board of directors.
HuffPost reached out to Manpower Group and listed a phone number under Kobylarczyk’s name, but neither immediately responded.
After reporting on Kobylarczyk’s canning, Fosado told the Journal Sentinel he had some sympathy, explaining how there was a noisy “back and forth” between fans during the match and that he thinks alcohol played a role in her outburst.
“I don’t think it was horrible or anything that should get her fired. I feel sorry for her,” Fosado said. “We can’t be judged on one mistake and there were a lot of emotions involved. It was just hurt feelings, no one physically hurt anyone.”
