Some of the NBA’s biggest names faced off in Sunday’s All-Star Game, but in a key moment there was someone who has never played in the league: former President Barack Obama.
With former first lady Michelle Obama sitting next to him in their right-side seats, Obama grabbed a loose ball as it headed into the crowd:
Obama, a longtime Chicago Bulls fan, also mischievously snuck up on Hall of Famer Reggie Miller, who played for the rival Indiana Pacers.
During an interview on the field between games on Sunday round robin tournamentMiller asked the former president if he had a “favorite moment” from the 1990s, when Michael Jordan led the Bulls to six championships.
“I always enjoyed watching us beat Indiana,” Obama said, and the two exchanged playful verbal banter about a piece of playoff history:
To top it all off, the Obamas were featured on the video display at the Intuit Dome – and the fans seemed to love it.
Reports on the ground indicate that they were warmly received ovation from the audience.
