The American -born job growth increased by almost 2 million in the last 12 months, because jobs born abroad fell in the same period, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
The number of indigenous Americans aged 16 and older has increased between July 2024, under the Biden administration, and July 2025 by 1,998,000, an increase of 1.52 percent.
The total number of indigenous Americans who held jobs in July was 133,035,000 compared to 131,037,000 for the same month in 2024. This is also a difference of 383,000 from 131,037,000 in June.
At the same time, the number of people born abroad and more than in the US fell by almost half a million, 452,000, from July 2024 to the same month in 2025. The number of jobs born abroad in the US in July was 32,066,000, a decrease of 32,518,000 in the same month last year, a 1.39 percent.

However, BLS data indicates that there were 54,000 more born jobs abroad in June than in July 2024.

The BLS reported on Friday that 74,000 jobs were added in July, well under the 110,000 estimate of economists who were interviewed by LSEG. The report also revised job growth in May and June. The profits of May were reduced by 125,000 to only 19,000 jobs, while the June figures were revised by 133,000 to only 14,000 jobs that month.
