The stewardesses of Air Canada strike on Sunday and fell the command of a government labor to return to work and forcing the largest airline in Canada to postpone its restarting plans.

Unionized Air Canada Stewardesses formed picket lines outside of large airports and demanded better wage and working conditions.
Cupe, which represents more than 10,000 stewardesses, said on Saturday that the members are only paid when an airplane is moved – from pushback to arrival – and not wages for boarding, deplaning or earth retirements.

“We will challenge this blatant unconstitutional order that the Charter rights violates 10,517 stewardesses, of whom 70% are women, and of whom 100% are forced to do hours of unpaid work by their employer every time they come to work,” the trade union said. “We invite Air Canada back to the table to negotiate a fair deal, rather than trusting the federal government to do their dirty work for them when negotiation becomes a bit difficult.”
