Communist China is reportedly providing military aid to the embattled Iranian regime, according to a leading US military think tank and other reports.
The Institute for the Study of War stated that China is providing military support to the Iranian regime’s missile program, basing its investigation on recent reports.
According to the Institute, “China is helping Iran reconstruct Iran’s missile program amid US-Israeli efforts to downgrade it.”

According to the Institute for the Study of War, “Western media reported that China has sent multiple shipments of rocket fuel precursor to Iran since the start of the war.”
The institute said that “China’s efforts to help Iran rebuild could undermine the military’s concerted efforts to degrade or destroy supporting elements of its ballistic missile program.”

The Daily Telegraph recently reported that “Ships believed to be carrying Chinese chemicals as rocket fuel have arrived in Iran, raising questions about Beijing’s support for the regime. Four sanctioned Iranian-flagged ships have docked in Iranian ports since the war broke out.”
The report also claimed that “sanctioned ships carrying enough chemicals to produce hundreds of projectiles are traveling from Chinese to Iranian ports.”
Chang urged the US to seize Chinese ships allegedly carrying sodium perchlorate, the chemical material needed for Iran’s rocket fuel systems. He added: “It is a matter of America’s will to impose costs on China.”

Chang concluded by saying that “the US president has a lot of influence. If you look at the overall relationship between China and the US, the US has more cards to play.” He cited the trade relationship between the US and China because China is an export-driven country and depends on the vital US consumer market.
The Islamic Republic’s armed forces have reportedly been working feverishly to rebuild their missile base since the start of the war on February 28, following rebukes from US and Israeli airstrikes.
According to the Institute for the Study of War, “Iran has excavated underground missile bunkers and silos hit by the combined force, in some cases making them operational again hours after the attack, according to recent US intelligence assessments. Iran may restore access to their launchers hours after the attack, but these launchers are components of a larger system that has been degraded. Reported fear and lack of coordination among some Iranian forces mean that intermediate-range missile systems continue to function suboptimally.”

Chinese companies have been sanctioned as part of the lifting of US restrictions on providing military aid to the Iranian regime. By 2023, the US Treasury Department said it had “designated one individual and six entities in a sanctions evasion network that has facilitated Iran’s procurement of electronic components for its destabilizing military programs, including those used in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This action specifically targets the head of the US-designated Iranian Pardazan System Namad Arman (PASNA), and the entity’s front companies based in Iran, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the People’s Republic of China.[People’s Republic of China] and suppliers who have made PASNA’s procurement of goods and technology possible.”

Just last month, an Atlantic Council report noted: “China has been supplying Iran with drones, anti-ship cruise missiles, surface-to-air missiles and their components to assist in its air and maritime defense capabilities. In other cases, China is directly supplying Iran with Western or Chinese technology components found in Iranian drones used against US military installations and economic interests in the Gulf, as well as on the Russian battlefield in Ukraine.”
