First, Stephen Colbert, And now Jimmy Kimmel. There is a clear pattern at work here.
ABC has announced that host of the late night Jimmy Kimmel was suspended and his show was taken out of the air for an indefinite period of time, all because Kimmel made a comment on Monday during his program.
Kimmel said: “We got a number of new low points during the weekend, where the Maga gang desperately tried to characterize this boy who kirlie Kirk killed something other than one of them and do everything they can to score political points.”
FCC chairman Brendon Carr went on a right-wing podcast and endangered ABC by saying:
This seems like an action by Jimmy Kimmel to play in the story that this was somehow a Maga or Republican motivated person. What people do not understand is that the broadcasters … have a license granted by the FCC, and that will be an obligation to operate in the public interest. When we see things like this, we can do this in the easy way or in the difficult way. These companies can find ways to change behavior, on Kimmel, or there will be extra work for the FCC in front.
ABC Affiliates announced that they would replace Kimmel’s show after the Carr threat, and the network responded by announcing that Kimmel had been suspended indefinitely. “
Make no mistake what is going on here. The Trump administration uses his power to broadcast votes on television that question or criticize them.
After Stephen Colbert had been canceled, Trump posted: “Next will be an even less talented Jimmy Kimmel.”
Trump has been angry with Kimmel for jokes about him for years. Trump is still angry that Kimmel humiliated him during the Oscars.
The broader implications here are about free speech, and the Trump administration that sends a message to broadcasting media that every criticism will be punished.
The first amendment is attacked in the United States and the business media help Trump to steal your rights.
