Russian President Vladimir Putin returns to the US for the first time in a decade when he met President Donald Trump in Alaska on Friday.
After the announcement of Trump last week that the couple would meet for a personal top marking the first time that an American president Putin will meet after he had invaded Ukraine in 2022, less than a year after he met Bides in Geneva in 2021 in Geneva-Werden, under Hungry, including the Meeting Plates, Sandoningplaatsenen Emirates.
It was reported that Putin shot the idea of Italy, as it is seen as favorable for Ukraine, and urged Hungary instead.

Trump, however, surprised the nation when he announced on Friday that Putin would travel to Alaska for his first American trip instead, because he attended the UN general meeting in New York in 2015 when he met the then President Barack Obama.
On Monday, Trump said he thought it was “very respectful that the president of Russia is coming to our country in contrast to us that goes to his country or even a third -party place.”
It is unclear why a third -party nation such as the VAE was not selected. Although the justification for why Hungary was not selected – even though he was led by Viktor Orbán who is friendly with both Putin and Trump – because it is a member of NATO and would probably be controversial if a NATO fellow citizen the Kremlin chef has been confronted with his chief of Kremlin in a time.
Likewise, dubious optics could be attributed to not organize the meeting in Switzerland that, although not a NATO fellow, is a member of the International Criminal Court that published an arrest warrant for Putin in 2023 for accusations of war crimes.

“It also exposes the challenge that you cannot solve this without Ukraine and without Europe,” he added.
Although it remains unclear exactly where the couple will meet, or why Alaska was eventually landed, Alaska’s Senior Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski said that it was “another chance for the Arctic to serve as a location that brings world leaders together to forge meaningful agreements.”

“Although I stay deeply on my guard for Putin and his regime, I hope that these discussions lead to real progress and help end the war on fair conditions,” she added, and noticed that she is worried when it comes to dealing with Putin.
Russian officials seemed to take a more optimistic tone about the location of the meeting when Russian special economic envoy Kirill took Dmitriev to X to recognize the historical role that Alaska played in the relationship of Russia-US.
“Born as Russian America – Orthodox roots, forts, fur trade – Alaska reflects that ties and makes the US an Arctic Nation,” said Dmitriev and later described it as the “perfect stage” for the meeting.

Hoffman argued that the location is not enormously important and said: “What matters is what they talk about. The details of the meeting more than the location.
“Nobody can predict what is going to happen. I don’t even think that Trump or Putin knows what will arise,” he added and noted that there were too many variables to start predicting or analyzing an element of the upcoming conversations.
Trump would not describe what he specifically hopes to get out of the conversations with Putin on Friday, although he argued that he could tell within the first “two minutes” whether a cease -the fire in Ukraine was even possible.
“I’m not going to close a deal. It’s not up to me to close a deal,” he said. I think a deal must be closed for both [Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy].
“I would like to see a ceasefire. I would like to see the best deal that can be closed for both parties. You know, two is needed for Tango,” he added.

Trump said he would relate the details of the conversation to both Zenskyy and European leaders immediately after the meeting.
“We’re going to see what he has in mind,” Trump said about his upcoming meeting with the Kremlin chef. “And if it is an honest deal, I will reveal it to the leaders of the European Union and NATO leaders, and also to President Zenskyy – I think I will first call him out of respect.
“I can say,” Good luck, keep fighting “or I can say,” We can close a deal, “Trump concluded.
