Tea, an app with which women anonymous can discuss the men with whom they date, became the victim of a large data breach that led to around 72,000 photos being compromised.
The company discovered on Friday morning that hackers had gained access to one of the data storage systems.
About 13,000 selfies and identification photos, used to verify accounts, were leaked, as well as around 59,000 images that were publicly visible on the app, according to a declaration of tea.
The cyber attack only influences those who have registered for the app before February 2024. The telephone numbers of users and e -mail addresses were not accessible, according to Tea.

Tea, which has started a full investigation since, said that it cooperates with cyber security experts to secure its systems and has since taken additional security measures.
“Protecting the privacy and data of our users is our highest priority,” the company said in the statement. “We take every necessary step to guarantee the security of our platform and to prevent further exposure.”

The infringement happened because hackers gained access to an identification link where data was stored before 24 February 2024, according to Tea.

The company previously had user photo -identification submitted as a safety measure to ensure that only women became members of the app. However, the company decreased from that requirement in 2023, as noted in the statement.
