Ann Arbor, MichiganRanks as the best city for Gen Z -professionals, according to a new survey by Rentcafe.com – a search platform for apartment that evaluated 264 American subways.
The study limited the list to 122 subways by excluding cities with populations under 300,000 or not being lacking sufficient data. Rankings were based on important gene priorities such as affordability, culture, diversity, environment and general quality of life.
“We have compiled this list to help Gen -Grads find cities that offer a balance between rewarding work and a good life,” wrote Mihaela Buzec, the author of the report.

Statistics include the share of the residents of Gen Z, training levels, changes in unemployment, income and job growth and a composite liveability index that processes in socio -economy, community dynamics and quality of life.
“Ann Arbor takes first place with his university city appeal and competing job market,” said the report. The city is the home of the University of Michigan, which causes a steady intake of young talent and cultural activities.

Lincoln, NebraskaAnd of Moines, Iowa, followed closely. The report emphasized a trend of Gen Z professionals who favor smaller, affordable cities with strong economic foundations and university presence.
“We see the shift in the preferences of Gen Z from the large urban centers to more livable and affordable destinations,” the report said.

“These subways are arranged at the bottom of the list, not necessarily because they miss opportunities, but because they do not match the Core values of Gen ZEspecially with regard to liveability factors and the industries that stimulate the labor market, “according to Mihaela Buzec, a senior writer and researcher.
“In particular, we can look at subways such as Bakersfield (#116), Modesto (#115) or Beaumont (#114), where the most important recruiting industries are agriculture, oil and gas or logistics and production, not the typical industries that orient themselves,” Buzec said.
Buzec further explained that Gen ZS prefers communities that “offer a high quality of life, with frequent cultural events, various entertainment options and walkable areas” that many of the subways that were low were missing.

“For example, Mcallen, TX and El Paso, TX, had the two lowest scores for the composite index of the liveability in our analysis ( #122 and #121). An important demographic metric that also influenced this positioning, is the lower percentage of the highly educated genes of the total young adult population, that is no great drive.
