Skydance Media inquired the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) It would eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion (dei) initiatives and install an ombudsman to combat the observed bias within CBS News once a long -planned merger with Paramount Global has been approved.
Skydance and Paramount, the parent company of CBS, agreed to a merger of multi-billion dollar that would control the combined company under the current Skydance Media CEO David Ellison. But President Trump’s FCC has to approve the deal and Skydance sent a few letters to FCC chairman Brendan Carr on Tuesday and promised changes that connect to the president’s agenda.
“I write to confirm the elimination of diversity, fairness and inclusion (dei) initiatives that were at Paramount and to confirm our commitments in the future,” wrote Skydance Stephanie Kyoko McKinnon.

“Skydance, for his part, has no Dei programs today and will not set up such initiatives,” McKinnon continued. “The company strives to ensure that its stories reflect the many target groups and communities that it must reflect in a way that meets non-discrimination requirements and other applicable laws.”
The Skydance director noted that the efforts of the Trump government to eliminate dei -initiatives and describe in detail that Paramount has already eliminated or changed the Dei programs in the company “to ensure that they are consistent with the dedication of the company to be used.
Paramount “will not set dei-related dissellable treatment in the adoption of decisions and no longer numerical goals related to the race, ethnicity sex or gender of applicants or employees of the employees in the United States” and, instead, focus on attracting talent from all geographies, backgrounds and perspectives, “according to the letter.

Paramount will also use protected characteristics in determining promotions, compensation, leadership structure, functions and public messages and, according to the letter, has the changes to employees.
The second letter, also written by McKinnon and addressed to Carr, focused on Skydance’s dedication to tackle media prejudice.
“To promote transparency and increased accountability, Skydance will also commit a period of at least two years to have an ombudsman who reports to the President of New Paramount, who will receive and evaluate any complaints of bias or other concerns with regard to CBS,” McKinnon wrote.

“The executive leadership of New Paramount will carefully consider such complaints when supervising the news programming of CBS,” she continued. “Skydance believes that its acquisition will generate considerable efficiency and have a substantial impact on the future of the broadcaster.”
Earlier this month, Paramount Global and CBS came in to arrange Trump’s election interference against the network. It was generally assumed that Paramount Global check -shareholder Shari Redstone wanted to arrange the suit for the planned merger, hoping to prevent potential retribution by preventing Trump’s FCC.
