The VIII Winter Olympic Games were held on 18-28 February 1960 in Squaw Valley, California, now called Olympic Valley. They are considered one of the best Olympic Games ever held. Just like Vice President Richard Nixon stated that the matches officially open a heavy Sierra Snowstorm, broke and the sky disappeared. The next 10 days were perfect – with sunny skies and intense competition.
How a city without mayor and a ski area with one chairlift, two rope gutters and a lodge of 50 rooms that organized the Winter Olympics organized is an incredible success story.
Alexander Cushing owned the resort and read about Reno, Nevada and Anchorage, Alaska, who made bids to keep the 1960 Winter Olympics. He decided to submit an offer to the US Olympic Committee. They were impressed by the annual snowfall of 450 centimeters and ski areas that had never been successfully written. Amazingly enough, they chose Squaw Valley as the offer of the USOC for the Winter Games of 1960.

Cushing launched a powerful campaign, lobbying for support from all over the world. Innsbrook, Austria, was the tough favorite. But Cushing created a model of 3000 pounds of the resort that was so large that it had to be shown at the American embassy instead of the head office of the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, Switzerland. The model emphasized all locations, including the Blyth Memorial Arena, the Papoose Peak Olympic Skisprong, the Alpine Skiing slopes and the Olympic village.
America rediscovers his soul and new life in the holy
After the first mood had passed, it came down to Squaw Valley and Innsbrook to compete for the competitions. On June 17, 1955, the final vote was 32 to 30. The IOC chose Squaw Valley to organize the VIII Winter Olympic Games.
Cushing received the financial support from the California State Government, the Olympic Committee of the United States and ultimately the US government signed through a conference resolution by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. He also picked up private financing that is necessary to develop the Squaw Valley site. The total costs were $ 80 million.
Squaw Valley went from a largely undeveloped site to a fully accessible and functioning city in just five years. Roads, bridges, administrative buildings, restaurants, hotels and motels were all built. An electric grid and sewer system were also installed, together with a water treatment plant.

Cushing then convinced Walt Disney to create a spectacular opening ceremony, the first to be broadcast on television. With 30,000 balloons, 2,645 votes, 1,285 instruments, 2,000 pigeons released, fireworks – it was quite a show.
How faith helps us to endure natural disasters
Disney also supervised the creation of the Tower of Nations, a huge metal structure covered with the Olympic rings. For this impressive structure was the
Olympic boiler, which would burn during the 11 days of the competitions. All medal receremonies took place in this large setting.
It is a typical American success story on so many levels.
I visited the site during a recent trip to Lake Tahoe. Squaw Valley is now Olympic Valley; A name change applied with regard to the Washoe stem. The resort is now called Palisades Tahoe.
The resort has become a best ski destination in the last 20 years, with 270 paths, 72 lifts, a 110-passenger tribe and more than 400 inch snowfall per year. It was quite influential in the milling ki movement. And in the past eight years they have organized three World Cup Ski Events and the US SKI Association training.

Being single is not a sin. The Bible says it and more Christians must agree
But no other Olympic sporting events have taken place.
Some of the original Olympic buildings continue to exist, including the unique Californian and Nevada welcomes, the dining room, the Olympic lodge and the chapel. The Olympic village, Blyth Arena, the skis jump and other buildings have disappeared.
The Arena and Ski jumping have been absent for 40 years. After the impressive success of the games, there was no continuous success. In the 1980s, a large controversy and avalanche stopped the momentum. Many years have passed without international events or training initiatives. The lack of locations eliminated future winter sports success. The Olympic impact has never been the same.
This is interspersed with Lake Placid, New York, another small town that has organized two Olympic Winter Games. Their original success in 1932 led to continuous success and 48 years later they had the chance to host the games again. And they still regularly organize international competitions and training events.
No matter how difficult it is to achieve success, it can be even more difficult to remain successful than to have success in the first instance. It takes so much effort to be successful, but as soon as you reach it, there is the possibility that it can stop.

To maintain success, you must remain based, regardless of your performance. Do not allow success to order your life again. Only because you have had some success does not mean that your life has changed fundamentally. If you are not careful, you can taste some success in your career, family, character, health or other parts of your life and start to think the above failures.
Successfully comes more attention and control. People will try to copy what you have done, simulate your approach or steal your idea downright. It will be more challenging to be successful if there is more competition. Only by continuing to innovate can you remain successful.
There is a reason for the adage “golden handcuffs” – when you are successful, expectations go up. Do not assume that success from the past means future success. It would be a mistake to believe that you will always experience success.

And remember that without the favor and blessing of God, you would never have had success. You cannot measure success without the God factor. Be humble enough to recognize God’s role in every success you have in life.
Knowing success is more a trip than a destination will keep you on the right track.
