From Flowy Haar to beautiful dance movements, the Cheerleaders of Dallas Cowboys are known for turning heads.
But one cheerleader – Faith Ward – has caused a commotion by getting out of the box with a new own beauty standard.
In one Tiktok -Dideo Posted July 17, Ward celebrated history as the first New Zealander to have a place on the 2025-2026 DCC Squad.
Fans couldn’t help it, but noticed in the clip that Ward was wearing her hair in a slender ponytail – a total of 180 of the traditional voluminous hairstyles that football fans have been used to seeing the team’s cheerleaders wearing games Since the sixties.
Tiktok users left dozens of comments in the video about the unusual style of Ward.
“I just wonder why you wear your hair in a ponytail like a DCC, I thought it was a requirement to have it in practice?” one person interviewed.
Another person asked: “Real question, I normally see no other dancers with their hair up, are you the only one?”
“Wait why the ponytail?” Another added.
In a separate now-virale video Posted by DCC member Charly Barby, was a few with ponytail that stands next to Barby and other new recruits, all of whom wore their hair.
Ward’s appearance in Barby’s video also led to discourse among DCC fans.
“The pony is iconic, but how are they allowed to have it,” said one fan under the video, while another stated, “No pony! It’s the DCC way way.”
Ward appealed to fans’ return, telling ABC Perth On Monday she is ‘broken that stereotype’.
“It is strange, because it is clear that the DCC hairstyle is off, downy, voluminous, lush, long locks, but I broke that stereotype,” Ward said.
She then explained that the switch was not her idea, but instead DCC director Kelli Finglass suggested the haircut change.
“So I am one of the days in rehearsal with my hair out and I am, you know, sweating after doing ‘thunderstruck’,” she recalled. ‘[Finglass is] Looking at me and she is from: ‘Do you know what? I really want to see what you would look like tied up. ” ‘
Ward continued: ‘I put it up for her and she really loved the way it danced, which was really cool because I was super enthusiastic about that. Your girl doesn’t want her hair out, sweaty in her face [while] dancing.”
Ward shared that Finglass compared her ponytail look with singer Ariana Grande.
“I go to uniform fittings and hold my hair in the hope that she would still like it, and I walk in and she says:” You give Ariana Grande! Like, we need an Ariana Grande moment in the team, “she shared.
Ward said that Finglass suggested a few tweaks for her hairstyle.
“She’s something like:” Yes, but I want your ponytail longer, I want it bleaching and then I want to see on Cameo Day if I prefer you to be with your hair or in a ponytail. “
But according to Ward is or her ponytail here is still in the air.
“So the reason why I haven’t tackled it yet is because I want to wait and see what she has to say about whether it has already solidified,” she told the outlet. “So at the moment it looks very hopeful that I will be a DCC with a ponytail.”
Ward added: “But we still have to keep open to the possibility that I could go back to my hair. So we can’t get too excited yet!”
The chat about Ward’s ponytail comes on the heels of the release of season 2 of Netflix’s “America’s Sweethearts” last month, which investigates the rigid rules that the DCC team must follow, including make -up and hair guidelines.
