The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zenskyy rearranges the government as the war of his country with Russia more than three years after it started.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Economic Minister Yulia Svyrydenko has been tapped to lead the next government as Prime Minister. In the meantime, current Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal will serve as the next Minister of Defense of the country.

Zenskyy mentioned Svyrydenko as his choice for prime minister in a position on X and said that the two met each other to discuss goals for the country.
“We have also discussed concrete measures to stimulate the economic potential of Ukraine, to expand support programs for Ukrainians and to scale up our domestic weapon production. When pursuing this goal, we are a transformation of the executive in Ukraine. Zelennaryy wrote on Monday.
In her own position, Svyrydenko thanked Zenskyy on X and explained the “priority tasks” defined by the president, including strengthening the economy, increasing the production of domestic weapons and expanding government support programs.

In Ukraine, the president appoints the prime minister of the country, but the appointment must be approved by the Verkhovna Rada, the parliament of the country, to become official.

The departing Prime Minister Shmyhal, who has played the role since 2020, will replace the current Ukrainian Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov, who reportedly provided Zenskyyy According to Reuters.
