Butterbean is back and wants to fight Jake Paul. (Watch the video below.)
The cult boxer, once the ‘called’King of the four -rounders“He said from around 500 pounds to 285 pounds, has new hips and no longer needs a wheelchair.
Social media star Paul has built a boxing career that fights against over-de-hill opponents such as Mike Tyson and recently Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The 58-year-old Butterbean, whose real name is Eric Esch, wants a piece of that.
Host Ariel Helwani pressed on Butterbean to make sure he was serious about earlier claims he wanted to throw away with Paul (12-1 with 7 knockouts), now arranged in 14th place by the WBA In the Cruiserweight division.
“Oh man, I really want to fight Jake,” said Butterbean. He claimed that Paul insulted him years ago and pushed him back to win his health “until I am ready to turn him out. And guess? I am here.”
“He was a kind of pot at the end of the rainbow?” Asked Helwani.
“Exactly,” answered Butterbean. “To prove myself that if I believe in myself, I can achieve something. And to go to 285 pounds, that is a huge achievement, since I have been there, maybe I was 280 in fourth or fifth grade.”

Helwani noted that Paul, 28, is striking pretty hard nowadays. “
“I hit so much harder than he,” answered Butterbean. “That’s why it would be such a great fight.”
In his heyday, Butterbean was more than a novelty and he took a slap into his dough -like physique. He had one Record from 77-10-4 with 56 knockouts And won the IBA Super Heavyweight title. He was also a former heavyweight champion Larry Holmes’ last opponent (and victory). Butterbean was credited with a 10th round knockdown Van Holmes by the referee, but the repetition may showed Holmes away.
Butterbean called Paul’s victory over the former heavyweight champion Tyson last November ‘BS’.
“Only because he is an older man does not mean that he could not have eliminated Jake,” said Butterbean. “I, I would apply it to him, he would not know what to think. … I know I could take him. And he thinks he could take me.”
Butterbean said he is looking for a final fight – and he had a back -up plan if Paul should never come true. He said he would kill former UFC hunter Brock Lesnar if it could be arranged. Butterbean, who last boking in 2013, also held in MMA, but his hip replacements make that a no-go, he said
“I prefer to fight Jake, to be honest, because he runs his mouth a little too much,” said Butterbean. “As one of those little Chihuahua dogs. I would like to keep him.”
