Chicago (AP) bobby Jenks, a double all-star closer and world series champion with the Chicago White Soxdied, the team announced on Saturday. He was 44.
The White Sox said that Jenks died on Friday in Sintra, Portugal, where he was treated for adenocarcinoma, a form of stomach cancer.
Jenks helped to win the White Sox de World Series 2005Saving four games in six performances during the late season. He was an all-star in each of the following two seasons, while in 2006 he saved 41 games in 2006 and 40 in 2007.
He eliminated 41 consecutive batters in 2007 and corresponded to a record for a reliever.

Jenks saved 173 games for the White Sox from 2005-10 before he ended his career with 19 performances in 2011 for the Boston Red Sox. Before his career he was 16-20 with a 3.53 ERA and 351 Strikeouts in 348 performances, all in relief.
“He and his family knew that cancer would be his most difficult struggle, and he will be missed as a husband, father, friend and teammate,” said White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf in a statement. “He will have a special place in our hearts forever.”
Jenks is survived by his wife, Eleni Tzitzivacos, their two children, Zeno and Kate, and his four children from an earlier marriage, Cuma, Nolan, Rylan and Jackson.
“As a teammate,” said former white SOX -outfielder Aaron Rowand: “He was the best.”
