King Charles III and Queen Camilla will visit the United States next month to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence.
Buckingham Palace said the King and Queen have accepted an invitation from President Donald Trump detailing how the trip will highlight the historic ties and modern bilateral relationship between the two nations, with full details of the itinerary to be announced closer to the visit.
Trump confirmed the visit in a statement on Tuesday, saying he and first lady Melania Trump are pleased to host the couple for a “historic state visit from April 27 to 30, including a banquet at the White House on April 28.”

“This momentous event will be even more special this year as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of our great country,” Trump said. wrote about Truth Social. “I’m looking forward to spending time with the King, who I respect immensely. It will be AMAZING!”

The visit will be Charles’ first state visit to the US as king.
Queen Elizabeth II previously made four state visits to the US in 1957, 1976, 1991 and 2007, according to Buckingham Palace.

As Prince of Wales, Charles visited the United States 19 times, including a 2005 tour with Camilla.
After the American leg, the king will travel to Bermuda for his first visit as monarch to a British overseas territory. It marks the first visit by a reigning king to Bermuda, with Charles last visiting in 1970, while Queen Elizabeth II last traveled to the island in 2009.

Trump has made two state visits to the United Kingdom – first in June 2019, when he was received by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace, and again in September 2025, an unprecedented second state visit where he was received by King Charles III at Windsor Castle.
