Donald Trump is trying Bullying America’s allies in taking over the war that he had completely misjudged and which had started for no specific reason.
Trump’s meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi was destined to be cringe-inducing.
What the world got was a portrait of a desperate and crazed aging president who seems to have no idea how to deal with the mess he has created.
Trump said he expects Japan to “step up.”
The President was asked by a member of the Japanese media: “President, you just said that Japan is going a step further. What kind of help do you expect from Japan in the future?”
Trump replied:
Look, I expect Japan to step up, because you know, we have that kind of relationship and we, we stand up for Japan, we have 45,000 soldiers in Japan.
We spend a lot of money in Japan. So, and we’ve had a relationship like that. So I, I expect, am not surprised that they would go a step further. We don’t need much. We don’t need anything. I mean, honestly, we don’t need anything from Japan or anyone else. I think it’s appropriate for people to step up.
In the case of Japan, I hear that they get more than 90% of their oil through the Strait. Yes. So that’s an important reason to go a step further. I mean, we tore it down. That land is almost demolished. The only thing is the Street. It’s very difficult. You could have two people drop small bombs in the water and they would hold it up.
We don’t want that to happen. But honestly, Japan, China, Europe and parts of Europe get a lot of their oil through trade; we get practically none. We are less, we are less than 1%. We don’t have to be one percent. We don’t even do it, I think we just do it to be nice, but we think about it. We, we don’t use the Street
We defend the Street for everyone else. And then in the case of NATO. They don’t want to help us defend the Strait, and they are the ones who need it, but now they are becoming much nicer because they see my attitude. They’re getting better and better, but as far as I’m concerned it’s too late.

The part of the story that Trump left out was that the world had no problem with the Strait of Hormuz until he started a war with Iran.
Trump is not defending the Strait. Trump is the reason it’s closed.
This wasn’t the worst part of the event.
