Last Friday, the devastating news broke that a 19-year-old illegal immigrant student in the United States was criminally charged with nine counts of assault and battery for allegedly groping girls in the hallways of a high school in Fairfax County, Virginia.
According to the mother of one of the alleged victims‘, the suspect ‘secretly walked behind [the girls] and put his hand between their legs. It wasn’t just a slap on the ass or an ass grab. It was groping a private property. It’s been happening for months.”
What’s even more shocking is that Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) told the parents of the alleged victims that the alleged attacker would be allowed to return to school upon his release.
ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT RELEASED UNDER BIDEN CHARGED FOR BITCHING FEMALE STUDENTS AT VIRGINIA HIGH SCHOOL
This is just the latest embarrassment for Virginia’s largest public school system — a district that has led the way in implementing far-left policies that focus more on virtue signaling than educating children.
The results are predictable and disheartening: students are put at risk, teachers’ hands are tied, parents are left out, and the quality of education is steadily declining in a country where academic achievement was once heralded.
Here are five examples of FCPS’s wildly misplaced priorities:
1. Illegal immigrants over student safety
FCPS officials boast of their “Confidentiality policy“, which mentions “a climate of fear and stress that would affect all students” if ICE were to detain parents while the children are in school. To that end, FCPS Superintendent Michelle Reid has pledged to “do everything we can – to the extent permitted by law –” to make FCPS a safe place for students and families in the country illegally. Law-abiding families are being ignored.

The result of this policy is clear: When the assailant accused of groping is released, FCPS will welcome him back into the taxpayer-funded school system while continuing to expose every other student to uncertainty, if not danger.

FCPS said in a statement, “While Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) cannot comment on details due to federal and state privacy laws, we prioritize the safety of students and staff and investigate every time someone reports an incident or says they do not feel safe at school. We are grateful to our law enforcement partners who continue to work quickly and thoroughly when there are safety concerns at our schools. The safety of all FCPS students and staff remains a top priority.”
2. Race-based discipline policies
FCPS handles student discipline through an “equity lens” designed to eliminate “disciplinary disproportionality” among students of different races. In plain terms, this means that if a racial group is disciplined at a rate greater than its share of the student population, FCPS will relax discipline for that group to bring the rates into line, regardless of whether that discipline was warranted.
This results-based approach to discipline is not only demonstrably illegal, but also demonstrably makes schools less safe. FCPS doesn’t seem concerned about either outcome.

3. Boys in girls’ locker rooms and bathrooms
FCPS requires that students may use the bathrooms and locker rooms that correspond to theirs self-chosen ‘gender identity’. It is the student who objects to sharing a bathroom or locker room with a member of the opposite sex who will be instructed to comply or use an alternative private facility.

The consequences of this policy are already noticeable. Last year, a boy with facial hair, who was reportedly “wearing pants so tight that his genitals were clearly visible,” began using a girls’ locker room at West Springfield High School, where he observed girls changing clothes.different stages of undressing.”
FCPS investigated the case and concluded that everything was fine because the boy identified himself as a girl. In fact, FCPS is so committed to this policy – and so dismissive of its dangers – that it has done just that refused to comply with the U.S. Department of Education demanding it be rescinded, leaving millions of taxpayers in federal funding at stake.
4. Keeping secrets from parents
FCPS has set up a system designed to withhold information from parents when a child attempts to “socially transition” to the opposite sex at school – either by using a different name, different pronouns, or by using the opposite sex’s bathrooms and locker rooms. Under this system, FCPS educators are instructed to exclude information regarding a student’s new “gender identity” from official records and to limit parents’ visibility into their children’s records so that they are visible only to district officials.

This arrangement could circumvent the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, which gives parents the right to access their children’s official school records. FCPS is likely familiar with this federal law.
This practice is a clear attempt to exclude parents from decisions about their children’s health, emotional upbringing, and education. It also conflicts with recent Supreme Court decisions in Mahmoud v. Taylor and Mirabelli v. Bonta.
5. Possibly selling data to communist China
It should be clear from the policies described above that FCPS appears to be illegally prioritizing domestic students over American students and giving short shrift to the constitutional rights of parents. But FCPS’ “America Last” mentality takes things to a whole other level.

As reported by National Reviewwatchdog group Parents Defending Education alleges that FCPS provided intellectual property to the Chinese Communist Party. According to reports, a nonprofit affiliated with Thomas Jefferson High School – FCPS’s top-ranked STEM school – has received millions of dollars from CCP-affiliated entities, including an organization known as the “TJ Fund,” in exchange for information that amounts to a blueprint for China to copy Thomas Jefferson High School and its educational success.
An FCPS spokesperson told National Review, “The TJ Fund is a separate and independent 501(c)(3) entity that is not overseen by FCPS.”

The list could go on, but the end result is clear: FCPS’ track record makes it an untenable choice for families who expect their children to be protected.
Parents should avoid this school system if they can, and if they can’t, they should be extremely diligent in protecting their children from a district that has repeatedly shown that this will not be the case.
