The European Union’s foreign policy chief said on Tuesday that the bloc is holding consultations with Gulf states to possibly “make proposals for Iran, Israel and the US” to get out of their war in a situation where “everyone saves face”.
Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, made the comment to Reuters, adding that “it would be in everyone’s interest if this war ended.”
“We have held consultations with regional countries such as the Gulf States, Jordan, Egypt, [about] whether we can also submit proposals for Iran, Israel and the US to get out of this situation, so that everyone saves face,” Kallas said.
“The problem with wars is that it is easier to start them than to stop them, and they always get out of hand,” she also reportedly said, noting that the EU is ready to “help diplomatically to bring the parties together to really stop this war.”

Kallas also withdrew after President Donald Trump said this weekend: “Many countries, especially those affected by Iran’s attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz, will, in coordination with the United States of America, send warships to keep the Strait open and safe.”
“No one is willing to endanger their people in the Strait of Hormuz,” Kallas told Reuters on Tuesday. “We have to find diplomatic ways to keep this open so that we don’t have a food crisis, a fertilizer crisis and an energy crisis.”

Trump said on Truth Social on Saturday: “We have already destroyed 100% of Iran’s military capacity, but it is easy for them to send a drone or two, drop a mine or deliver a short-range missile somewhere along or in this Waterway, no matter how badly they are defeated.”

“Hopefully, China, France, Japan, South Korea, Britain and others affected by this artificial restriction will send ships to the area so that the Strait of Hormuz will no longer pose a threat to a nation that has been completely decapitated,” Trump wrote. “In the meantime, the United States will bomb from the coastline and continuously shoot Iranian boats and ships out of the water. Somehow, we will soon get the Strait of Hormuz OPEN, SAFE, and FREE!”
