Casey Wasserman’s bold comments to Ghislaine Maxwell in the Jeffrey Epstein files continue to create fallout.
Wasserman’s name was removed from the talent agency he founded. The company dropped the original ‘Wasserman Agency’ for a rebrand called ‘THE TEAM’. Wasserman announced his intention to sell the company last month, saying he had become a distraction.
Visitors were redirected from the old website to a new website that initially explained the change, The New York Times reports this.
“Starting today, Wasserman will transform into The Team,” the company wrote. “For 24 years, this company has been shaped by our work, our people and our unifying belief in the power of sports, music and entertainment. That philosophy remains the foundation of who we are – and where we are going. We move forward as we always have: together.”
In a statement to The Daily BeastThe team wrote in a statement: “Wasserman is changing its name to THE·TEAM. We remain fully focused on serving our customers with the same professionalism that has always been our standard.”
The company then appears to cut ties with Wasserman as much as possible bleeding clients like “Pink Pony Club” singer Chappell Roan, Laufey, Weyes Blood, Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast, Chelsea Cutler, Water From Your Eyes, Orville Peck and Beach Bunny on the music side.
The agency reportedly did so retain Kendrick Lamar; Gentleman; and Tyler, the Creator. The New York Times noticed this it also still represents players like Coldplay and Ed Sheeran, plus basketball stars Paige Bueckers and Brittney Griner and LA Dodgers World Series MVP pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Wasserman has felt the impact since his suggestive comments in emails to Maxwell appeared in newly released files. Maxwel was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022 for a scheme with Epstein to sexually abuse minors.
“Where are you, I miss you,” the then-married Wasserman wrote to Maxwell in 2003. ‘From April 22 I will be in New York for four days… Can we book that massage now??” Maxwell responds and says, “all that rubbing -Are you sure you can handle it? The thought honestly makes me a little breathless.” Wasserman also expressed a desire to see Maxwell in a tight leather outfit.
“I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell that took place over 20 years ago, long before her heinous crimes came to light,” wrote Wasserman, who is not charged with a crime.
But Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has called on him to resign from his position as a member of the organizing committee for the 2028 LA Olympics.
