President Trump was in Iowa today talking about closing the border, security and law and order in the country, including Minnesota, and reminded everyone that “even in Minnesota, crime has gone down. And you know why? Because of what we’ve done. We’ve taken out thousands of criminals, career criminals, bad criminals, people who came from Venezuela.”
And he also talks about the Trump boom. Even today, the S&P is at an all-time high as the Trump boom continues with its corporate boom, productivity boom, profit boom, AI boom, and falling energy and gasoline prices. The press wants to focus on the rising gold and the falling dollar. But these things keep churning, and I don’t think the dollar will stay low while the economy continues to rise.
Mr. Trump also proudly proclaimed that virtually no one is crossing the border and that the country is safer today than ever before, even in Minnesota, where there is so much opposition to deporting criminals. Mr. Trump has sent his border czar, Tom Homan, to work with local officials, but you know what? If they think laws won’t be enforced, something else is about to happen. And if they think they can protect the city’s sanctuary from criminals and the worst of the worst, they are wrong.
There are federal laws on the books, and those laws must be enforced. The rule of law should never be rejected. The force structure for enforcing our immigration laws may be downsized, but so far no one, including the president, is talking about ending those forces.
As the President has said, where ICE, the National Guard or other law enforcement agencies have been deployed, the results have been excellent. Washington DC was the first success, but there are many more, including Minnesota.
And as the president posted on Truth Social: “Across the five Republican-controlled states of Texas, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Louisiana, ICE has arrested 150,245 criminal illegal aliens in the past year – with ZERO protests, riots or chaos. Why? Because local law enforcement and ICE are working together.”
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche has blamed sanctuary jurisdictions, in which Democratic local and state governments prohibit local law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration enforcement, for many of the problems in Minneapolis, throughout Minnesota. Texas, the state where the majority of illegal immigrants reside, cooperates with federal authorities and has not had these problems. Minneapolis, which has a small faction but refuses to cooperate, has enormous problems. What does that tell you? How about: obey the laws.
