According to the FAA, an Amazon MK30 drone, registration number N139PA, struck the cable in Waco, Texas, around 12:45 a.m. on November 18.
Amazon said the drone had just completed a delivery when it “severed a thin internet cable overhead,” triggering a safe landing — a built-in safety feature designed to instantly bring down the plane in unexpected situations.

The company said it self-reported the incident to the FAA and has not received any additional questions from regulators. Amazon also said the affected line was an internet cable and not a power line.

Video seems to show the drone becomes entangled in the cable before slowly descending and landing.
The Waco incident comes just a month after the FAA and NTSB opened a separate investigation in Tolleson, Arizona, where two Amazon Prime Air delivery drones struck a construction crane.
