Russian President Vladimir Putin was captured on camera on Wednesday watching a stony-faced robot dance at an AI exhibition in Moscow.
Video from the screen showed the humanoid robot trying to spin in front of him before the president remarked, “Very nice. Thank you,” and walked away.
The moment between Putin and the robot, named Green, became one of the most replayed television moments of the day, appearing on state television, per Reuters.
The demonstration, organized by Sberbank, took place during the AI Journey conference, with Putin arriving with a bunch of bodyguards.

The video also shows the bodyguards moving towards the Russian leader as the robot stepped forward to introduce itself to Putin.
“My name is Green,” it said in Russian. “I am the first Russian humanoid robot with built-in artificial intelligence. This means that I am not just a program on a screen, but a physical embodiment of technology,” Green added.

At one point, a nervous bodyguard appeared to move between the robot and Putin to make sure the choreographed display didn’t go wrong.
