Middle Eastern diplomats and experts have argued for generations that there is only one path that will lead to lasting peace for both the Israeli and Palestinian people.
Genuine lasting peace will only come with a two-state solution in which a Palestinian state is established and the two sides recognize each other’s rights and agree to live in peace.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has opposed a two-state solution throughout his political career.
Seen in this context, Trump’s actions in Egypt were little more than performative theater.
The current ceasefire and the exchange of prisoners and hostages were good steps, but given the history of the region and this conflict in particular, the chances of the ceasefire being maintained are slim.
If the United States had a president who was truly committed to peace and not to mental and what appears to be physical decline, someone who had the energy and will to stand up to Netanyahu, peace might have a chance.
Instead, this is what the world heard from Donald Trump:
Then you had the Biden administration, which was the worst administration in the history of our country, and they obviously did nothing with that and everything else. And so it remained at four, and now many people, even today, talk about participating.
So many people have talked to me about that, and it will be a great tribute. Really the United States. I mean, the United States has worked very hard in the Middle East, so it would be a tribute to us and to Jared and to Steve, and to all the people, Marco, all the people who worked so hard on that.
And it will really ensure, it will guarantee that everything stays together. You will, and you will do well, because the Four Nations are doing very well. I mean, they do it to the extreme because they’re rich, but… They’re a lot richer because of it. So I hope everyone joins in now. Now. We have no excuses.
