Millions of electric motors used in attic fans mounted by Gable and Roof have been recalled after reports of combustion or fire, according to a notification from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Thursday.
The CPSC said that around 2.9 million electric motors that have been distributed by the air opening have been included in the recall.
The affected engines were sold online and nationally in various stores, including ABC Supply, Lowe’s and Beacon, from August 2003 to December 2013. The price varied from $ 74 to $ 92.

The engines in the recall were only sold during the aforementioned time period and will have one of the following model numbers: DOW-136-0-34-Xin, DOW-136-0-26-XIN, DOW-136-0 -40-XIN, DOW-136-0 -40-3/4 “and D-PSC-10-4P1SP.
The electric motors can also be identified by a distinctive vent pattern on the engine -end bubbles, according to the CPSC knowledge.

The recall comes in the midst of concern about the safety lock of the electric motor, which “can be a risk on short circuit and fire hazard during use,” said the CPSC knowledge.

Although no injuries have been reported, there have been 159 reports of incidents with burning or fire.

The affected consumers were asked to immediately stop using the engines and to contact Air Vent for a refund. As soon as it has been confirmed that the consumer has a affected model number, a reimbursement will be distributed.
