Fifteen people were injured and a suspect is in custody after a stabbing and chemical attack at a tire factory in central Japan.
The 38-year-old attacker was reported to have arrived at a Yokohama Rubber Co. factory on Friday. stabbed eight people and injured seven others with what was suspected to be bleach in Mishima, west of Tokyo.
The motive for the incident is unclear, but the suspect is believed to be a former employee of the factory, Kyodo news agency reported, citing investigative sources.
The suspect carried a survival knife and wore what appeared to be a gas mask, Japanese newspaper Asahi reported.

Fujisan Nanto Fire Department told The Associated Press that five of the people stabbed were in serious condition.
Photos and videos taken at the scene showed emergency workers swarming the factory.

Shizuoka Prefecture police said attacker was arrested for alleged attempted murder.
Media reports described the stabbing victims as all conscious while being transported to local hospitals.

The seven others who were injured by the bleach thrown at them during the attack were also hospitalized, the fire department said.
